Jaz Dhami – Pieces of Me (Out Now)
Jaz Dhami stormed onto the music scene with Jind Jaan on Aman Hayers GroundShaker album in 2008, since which he’s established himself as one of the best talents of his generation. There is one thing he’s consistently strived to deliver over these 10 years – versatility as an artist.
Pieces of Me is sprinkled with Jazs exploration of that versatility while still transporting listeners through a diverse desi maze of sounds. Each piece (song) is dynamic in its own individual way. The Bhangra heads will no doubt be bopping to Aitvaar and Purple Suit. While melody lovers are thrown into an Arabian themed experience with Faisla, not forgetting the senti vibes of So Simple.
Jaz has chosen to team up with an array of talented producers, right from well known names in the Punjabi scene like Tigerstyle, B Praak and Desi Routez. Then there’s the names that are newer but are creating their own waves in 2018 – Snappy, DJ Upside Down and V Rakx. You’ll notice from the choice of songs, Jaz has catered for every mood on Pieces of Me.
This album acts as a bridge between the Jaz Dhami of old and new. Jaz has now entered into a phase of exploration of himself as an artist, the final track on the album, Haan sees Jaz reveal the future of what’s to come from Jaz Dhami, no doubt continuing to cement his place as Britain’s most versatile and soulful Punjabi artist.
