Ms Sharma had been the face of a Cancer Research campaign in 2013 after successfully beating the disease three times after being diagnosed in 2009. Martin McGlown, Head of Media Volunteer Liaison at CRUK told FEMAIL today: ‘We are deeply sorry to hear that Seema has passed away and our thoughts are with her family at this most difficult time. ‘We were so grateful to Seema for sharing her story as part of our campaign and for all she did to help raise awareness of cancer. She had an incredible determination and was an inspiration to so many.’
In an interview with the Ilford Recorder in June, Ms Sharma revealed that she had meticulously planned her funeral, which would include a five-minute video and where the dress code would be ‘colourful.’
Her approach to dying was a brave one, she said: ‘People try not talk about it. The only thing guaranteed in this world is birth and death.’We all want to hold on to life for some reason – I do not see it like this. For me, the pain will end. I cannot complain at all.’
The message has since been shared around the internet with supporters sharing their admiration for the comical missive on Twitter including from former So Solid Crew members Harvey and Lisa Maffia. Harvey posted ‘One minute I was MCing to Seema now she gone #RIP’ while Lisa paid tribute saying ‘Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of @SeemaJayaSharma you were a real fighter and an amazing woman. May your beautiful soul RIP xxx’ The mother of Kalvin and Shanti, 8, had previously recorded a song, called Alive, which has been viewed more than 34,000 times.
