Well Known DJ Gurps, known for his work with Calibar Roadshow and releasing many bhangra tracks has suddenly passed away at the age of 34.
DJ Gurps aka Gurpreet Mudher has been in the Asian DJ Circuit for many years. He had built a reputation as one of London’s hottest DJs. With his beat thumping mixing styles to his passion to be the best, he certainly had set a benchmark for others to achieve. He was London’s most sought after DJs and his debut Album “Expectations”, which was released in the year 2009.
At 16, DJ Gurps joined the ‘Mix and Blend Roadshow’, and started to play alongside DJ Rags and within a short space of time had picked up and created his own sound and style of music that worked with the range of audiences he was playing for week in week out. DJ Gurps had set a new trend, mixing urban beats with the up and coming Desi-vibes from Punjab, Delhi and Mumbai and being primarily an Asian Wedding DJ he glided with ease from the afternoon functions to the late-night club events.
Having held club residencies in some of London’s top nightclubs, including Zoo Bar, Oceana, The Academy and More, DJ Gurps had played along side some of the UK Asian industry’s biggest stars which include the likes of Panjabi MC, Jazzy B, Sukshinder Shinda, Aman Hayer, MC Special, Raghav, Kray Twinz, Rishi Rich Project and Talvin Singh to US RnB acts such as 112, Sean Paul, Kanye West, Timbaland and Chris Brown.
His 2012 releases ‘Ghabru Gulaab Warga’ & ‘Ous Kurri 2’ both dominated the charts for many weeks. With his beat thumping mixing styles, wide knowledge of all music, DJ Gurps had looks set to cement his position as one of the country’s most sought after DJs and set yet another benchmark for others.
In 2016 was his last release, he featured on a very special collaboration, co-producing the single ‘Branda Da Craze’ alongside Deep Jandu – as well as featuring alongside Fateh and vocalist Romie Gill.
