As 2014 comes to a end BBC Asian network end of year chart show with Asian Network presenter Suzi Mann got heated. Dr Zeus came live on radio to talk about his releases for 2014 and then radio presenter Suzi Mann asked Dr Zeus about the track “Baby Doll” producing it and working with Kanika Kapoor. If you notice Baby Doll track shows that it has been produced by Meet Brothers and noting mentioned about Dr Zeus.
Dr Zeus replied
“To be honest, its quite a sad story on my side. To be honest with you it was called “Barbie Doll” originally, but had to be changed due to copyright reasons I was asked to do this ‘Baby Doll’ song, it was originally called ‘Barbie Doll’ but they had to change it due to copyrights at the last minute.
I recorded all the vocals in my studio with Kanika, I produced that whole song and it was a case of the Meet Brothers turned around to me & said ‘We’re the producers of this song’. I said ‘What have you done’? Meet bros said to me that ‘We made the composition. It’s a law in India that if you’re a composer you’re credited as the producer, but to be honest its these kinda of things that are frustrating under Indian law, that does not make sense to me under English law of music. As for Lovely track . He went on to ask Suzi is there anything on that track, that sounds like Vishal-Shekar have done? Vishal-Shekar co-wrote a little bit of the verse on Lovely, but that’s it. I explained the Baby Doll situation to Shah Rukh Khan and he promised me I would get credited & he would shoot a remix video with me. It still hasn’t happened, but to be fair he’s a very busy man & I can appricate that. And to be honest I cant complain, when they launched the track “Lovely” Shah Rukh called me & Kanika on stage”.
Dr Zeus ended it by saying “I still got appreciate what has happened for me, in this whole Baby Doll & Lovely scenario” Hopefully I feel I’m making a impact in Bollywood, touchwood. I have loads of tracks that are just me & I have some big backers out there”.
After this Kanika Kapoor was invited onto the radio by BBC Asian Network Suzi Mann to talk about Baby Doll as it topped the charts for 2014 and when informed how it was to work with Dr Zeus and him producing the track she repled:
Kanika Kapoor replied
“I actually don’t know what you’re talking about, no I don’t think so, that’s not the right thing to say. The track was written composed & produced right in front of me in the Meet Brothers studio, in India, in Mumbai. It was written by Kumar and it was done in front of me, if they took some help on music production from Zeus, then that’s between them two. It was certainly not produced by Zeus, no no. You cannot credit somebody for the wrong thing. It was composed, the song, the melody everything, the lyrics and credit firstly goes to Kumar who wrote the song. What made the song was the lyrics that was written by Kumar. Kanika then goes on to sing a line from the song “Yeh Duniya, Yeh Duniya Pittal Di Yeh Duniya Pittal Di. The composition was done by Meet Brothers in front of me in their studios in Mumbai. We do respect Dr Zeus”.
Kanika Kapoor was asked after if she will still be working with Dr Zeus and replied “Hes very busy with his work & I’m also busy with my work, but I’m sure something is coming I’m sure we will work together again soon”.
After Kanika Kapoor went onto social media to start attacking Dr Zeus but later deleted the tweets. We have managed to get them before this happen.
Dr Zeus tweeted Kanika Kapoor saying @TheKanikakapoor needs to calm down making false allegations Not my fault there’s proof of u being a lier..n now u wana scoop to this level.
Now this is not the first time Dr Zeus has been accused of stuff. If you remember few years back lehmber hussainpuri mentioned issues he had with Dr Zeus and albums that where released and Lember saying he will never work with Zeus again.
